Georges Feydeau
Georges Feydeau was a French playwright, the most prominent representative of the so-called "vaudeville," and a master of situational comedy. His plays form a cornerstone of the global comedic repertoire and are highly regarded for their precise dramatic structure.
During his career, he wrote over sixty plays, the majority of which are farces and vaudevilles. His most famous works include A Flea in Her Ear (La Puce à l'oreille), A Gown for His Mistress (Tailleur pour dames), The Lady from Maxim's (La Dame de chez Maxim), and Purging Baby (On purge bébé). Feydeau's style is characterized by mathematically precise timing, complex plots full of mistaken identities, and a satirical view of middle-class society at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. His texts are considered among the most technically demanding tasks for theatrical ensembles due to the high requirements for pace and actor coordination.
