Pavel Svoboda
Pavel Svoboda is a Czech scenographer, visual artist, and photographer who ranks among the most prominent figures of contemporary Czech stage design. He studied graphic design and scenography at DAMU in Prague, and his work moves at the intersection of visual art and architecture. His style is defined by a strong visual concept, a refined sense of light and material, and the ability to create stage spaces that actively participate in storytelling.
He has long collaborated with leading Czech theatres and opera houses, most notably the National Theatre in Prague, the J. K. Tyl Theatre in PlzeÅ, and the ZlĆn Municipal Theatre (The Sound of Sun Clocks). Particularly significant is his collaboration with director JiÅĆ HeÅman, with whom he created a number of acclaimed opera productions, including Parsifal, The Plays of Mary, Orpheus, and The Flying Dutchman.
