
Oleh Mykhailov
Oleh Mykhailov is a Ukrainian playwright and laureate of the Ukrainian Theatre Festival-Award GRA (2023). His plays have been staged in theatres in Ukraine, Poland, Estonia, Finland, and Kazakhstan.
In 2023, he received the Jury’s Special Prize for his play The True Story of Miss Hildur Bok…, which was adapted into the monodrama The Squirrel Who Lived 100 Years at the Golden Gate Theatre in Kyiv. After the full-scale invasion began, Mykhailov remained in Kharkiv, where he keeps a diary of life in the frontline city. Excerpts from it have been performed in theatres in Estonia, Sweden, Austria, and Finland.
The Kharkiv-based publishing house ASSA has released his books Mons the Giraffe. Kharkiv Story of a Wartime Spring (2023) and A Strange Spring (2024).
