Martin Černý
Martin Černý is a Czech stage designer who can transform an empty stage into a magical world full of detail and atmosphere. A graduate of DAMU, he has worked as a designer in many Czech theatres – from the Municipal Theatre in Mladá Boleslav, through the Vinohrady Theatre, to the National Theatre, where he created designs for major drama and opera productions. For his set design for Polední úděl directed by Hana Burešová at the Divadlo v Dlouhé, he received the Alfréd Radok Award in 2011. His style is unmistakable – thoughtful details, expressive work with light, and the ability to capture the mood of the play in a way that supports both actors and story. Beyond theatre, he also works in television and film scenography and collaborates with young creators on student projects.
