
Vasyl Vovkun
Vasyl Vovkun is a Ukrainian director, screenwriter, and cultural scholar. He was born in the village of Miliieve, Chernivtsi region, and graduated from the Lviv State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography. He worked as an actor in theatres in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi before moving into directing and producing. From 2007 to 2010, he served as Ukraine’s Minister of Culture and Tourism. Since 2017, he has been the General and Artistic Director of the Lviv National Opera. He is the creator of numerous large-scale cultural events and performances, known for blending contemporary theatrical approaches with a deep understanding of Ukrainian cultural heritage.
