LISOVA
LISOVA by OSDC Dance Company on DRAMOX is a dance film inspired by Lesya Ukrainka’s drama-fairy tale The Forest Song. The film combines footage of rehearsals and the performance itself, blurring the boundaries between the stage, the forest and the rehearsal room.
At the heart of the story is the mystical love between Mavka, a forest spirit, and Lukash, a human. Their worlds are governed by different laws, and their encounter changes both of their lives.
The choreography in LISOVA stands out among OSDC Dance Company’s other works for its eccentricity and unconventional movement choices. The fantastical forest creatures cannot move like ordinary people, so their movements take on a fairytale quality. Group sequences become a living set that thinks, doubts and acts. Each forest character is highly individual, yet woven into a shared movement style, creating the sense of a single, living organism with its own distinctive rules.
A mystical deep-house score complements this world and enhances its fairytale atmosphere.
LISOVA brings the world of The Forest Song into the format of a dance film, where the story comes alive through movement, imagery and sound.
