
Květa Legátová
Květa Legátová (born Věra Hofmanová) was a legendary Czech writer, radio playwright, and educator. She became renowned for her unique literary style capturing the distinctive and rugged life in the Moravian Kopanice region, where she spent years working as a schoolteacher. Her literary breakthrough came later in life with the short story collection Želary (State Award for Literature) and the novella Jozova Hanule. These text served as the basis for the internationally successful, Academy Award-nominated film Želary and have inspired numerous stage adaptations across leading Czech theatres (such as the Rokoko Theatre, the National Theatre Brno, and the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Plzeň).
