    Ivan Trojan

    Ivan Trojan

Ivan Trojan is one of the most acclaimed and in-demand Czech actors of today, known especially for portraying eccentrics and delivering natural performances with a touch of subtle comedy. A graduate of Prague’s DAMU, he began his career at the Divadlo na Vinohradech and, since 1997, has been a permanent member of the Dejvické Theatre, where he first impressed as Professor Maillard in an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether. This was followed by the role of the Governor in Gogol’s The Government Inspector and his first nomination for the Thálie Award, along with acclaimed performances in Oblomov, The Brothers Karamazov, and Petr Zelenka’s Tales of Ordinary Madness. A seven-time Czech Lion winner (five times for Best Actor in a Leading Role), he most recently triumphed as controversial healer Jan Mikulášek in the film Charlatan. Audiences also know Ivan Trojan from Angel of the Lord, One Hand Can’t Clap, Loners, Brats (Smradi), and the TV series Czech Bluegrass (Četnické humoresky). He also works in dubbing, radio, and charity, is a fan of the Bohemians 1905 football club, and is the son of actor and director Ladislav Trojan and the brother of producer Ondřej Trojan. He is the father of four children.
