Piotr Klimek
Piotr Klimek is a Polish composer, music producer, musicologist, and educator. He studied composition and music theory at the Academy of Music in Poznań and completed his postgraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. In 2021, he was awarded the title of Professor of Musical Arts. Since 2017, he has served as the general director of the Teatr Animacji puppet theater in Poznań and as the artistic director of the International Puppet Theater Festival "Sztuka Szuka Malucha." He has composed music for over 150 theatrical productions staged in Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, collaborating with directors such as Janusz Ryl-Krystianowski, Jacek Malinowski, and Paweł Chomczyk. In the Czech Republic, he is best known for his work at the Radost Theatre in Brno, where he composed the music for A Midsummer Night's Dream (Sen noci svatojánské) and Ronja, the Robber's Daughter (Ronja, dcera loupežníka). Alongside his theatrical work, he composes symphonic, chamber, and choral pieces that have received awards at numerous international festivals. In parallel, he continues his academic work, teaching at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. Theatre critics consistently praise his ability to integrate musical composition with puppet animation and alternative theatrical forms, making his music an equal partner to the stage action.
