Peter Pavlac
Peter Pavlac is a Slovak playwright, author, and dramaturg, widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Czech–Slovak theatre. He studied dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava and worked for many years as an in-house dramaturg at the Drama Company of the Slovak National Theatre, contributing to dozens of productions.
He is the author of numerous original plays (Já, Baťa; Masaryk/Štefánik), adaptations, and librettos, focusing on strong storytelling, character psychology, and socially resonant themes. His works have been staged by leading Slovak and Czech theatres and are often created in close collaboration with prominent directors. In addition to drama, he also works in musical theatre and literary adaptations.
The media describe him as “a writer with a clear dramatic voice and an exceptional sensitivity to theatrical language.”
