Paweł Chomczyk
Paweł Chomczyk is a Polish stage and puppet actor, director, producer, and educator. He works as an associate professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (Białystok branch) and is the co-founder of the independent theatre companies Kompania Doomsday and Grupa Coincidentia.
He graduated in Puppetry from the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw (Białystok branch) and studied pedagogy and psychology at the University of Białystok. In the Czech Republic, he is primarily known as a director of productions at the Radost Theatre in Brno, where he staged A Midsummer Night's Dream (Sen noci svatojánské).
As an actor and director, he has collaborated with numerous Polish stages (the Aleksander Węgierko Dramatic Theatre, puppet theatres in Białystok and Toruń, and the Rampa Theatre in Warsaw). As a member of the international Krabat Ensemble, he permanently cooperates with German venues such as Lindenfels Westfluegel Leipzig and Figurentheater Wilde & Vogel. He has also taught at the University at Buffalo, USA. He is a recipient of scholarships from the Polish Ministry of Culture and several accolades, including the Grand Prix at the Paderewski Festival in Buffalo, as well as the Herald Angel and Total Theatre Awards at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
