Domum
DOMUM is a ballet-symphonic performance telling a story of home, choice, and the heroism of Ukrainians in times of war. The title comes from the Latin domum — “home” — and defines the core meaning of the production: the search for what truly becomes a source of support for both an individual and a nation.
The performance is created with the participation of the orchestra, choir, and ballet of the Hryhoriy Veryovka National Honoured Academic Ukrainian Folk Choir.
The production unfolds in two acts. Act I explores home as the source of life — childhood, love, memory, and connection to one’s native land. Through images of birth, growing up, and four different love stories, the performance shows how war transforms human emotions and forces the characters to make difficult choices. Act II focuses on home as a mission and responsibility. The characters move from civilian life into military brotherhood, passing through training, internal conflicts, fear before the first battle, and an awareness of shared responsibility.
Dedication: The performance is created with deep gratitude to the defenders of Ukraine and is dedicated to those who shared their personal military experience and continue to defend the country. DOMUM is a story of the heroism of Ukrainians today.
