Давид Базіка

David Bazika is an architect, set designer, and visual magician who can transform a stage into another world. This Prague native gave his creative heart to Ostrava, and as the Head of Set Design at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, he commands the stage with an architect’s elegance and a flair for dramatic detail. His professional journey led him through architecture studies at CTU and set design at DAMU in Prague under Ondřej Nekvasil. This blend of disciplines allows him to create sets that are both technically precise and visually stunning. He has designed over forty productions for major and minor stages from Košice to Prague. In Ostrava, besides the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, he has also worked at the Chamber Arena Stage, Stará Aréna, the Ostrava Puppet Theatre, and Theatre Mír. He has also made a significant mark in film and television (e.g., Smart Philip or I'm Still Alive with a Coat Hanger, a Flyswatter, and a Cap) and, as an architect, is responsible for projects such as the exhibition at the Pilsner Urquell brewery and the reconstruction of Komorní Fidlovačka. His closest collaborators include directors Radovan Lipus, Juraj Deák, and Václav Klemens.
