Франц Кафка
Franz Kafka (1883–1924) was a world-renowned Prague-born German-writing author and essayist whose work is considered one of the most influential pillars of 20th-century world literature. He was born in Prague, where he studied law and worked at an insurance company while creating his fascinating texts at night. He is famous for his visionary novels and short stories filled with existential anxiety, absurdity, and bureaucracy. Among his best-known works are the novels The Trial (Proces), The Castle (Zámek), Amerika, and the short story The Metamorphosis (Proměna). Although he did not write plays himself, his distinctive style defined the term "Kafkaesque" and became a massive phenomenon on theatre stages worldwide, including leading Czech venues.
