
Ян Мікулашек
Jan Mikulášek is one of the most distinctive Czech theatre directors. He began at the Polárka Theatre in Brno and later at Divadlo Reduta, where, together with director Petr Štědroň, he created productions that shaped the local scene. He also worked at the Petr Bezruč Theatre in Ostrava. Since 2013, he has been a resident director at Divadlo Na zábradlí in Prague, where he staged acclaimed works such as Europeana, Correspondence V+W, The Golden Sixties (Alfréd Radok Award), Cutting It Down (Mýcení), Hamlets, and Resurrection. Mikulášek is renowned for his visually striking style, blending cinematic editing, detail, musical counterpoint, and irony. Critics call him a “director of powerful images,” capable of turning each production into a unique visual experience.
