Ян Вондрачек

Jan Vondráček graduated from the DAMU. The Dejvice Theatre was his first stage; in 1996, he moved to the newly forming Divadlo v Dlouhé, where he performed dozens of roles (A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), etc.). He has won three awards for his performances at the GRAND Festival of Laughter in Pardubice—for his role as Lelio in the production of The Liar, as Mr. Jan in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), and most recently as Pulec in The Human Tragicomedy. He also received the Alfréd Radok Award for the character of Lelio in Goldoni's play The Liar. Actor Jan Vondráček also stands out for his exceptional voice, which made him famous as a voice actor and which has also been announcing stops in Prague's public transport system since January 2023. His voice became widely recognized thanks to the TV series The Mentalist. In 2010, he received the František Filipovský Audience Award for this voice acting performance. He has also provided dubbing for series like The Simpsons and Family Guy. He first made a brief appearance in front of the film camera in 1983 in Juraj Herz's Straka v hrsti. His first major film role was Vychodil in Sametoví vrazi (Velvet Killers), directed by J. Svoboda. He also became well-known for the films Pokoj v duši, Příběh kmotra, Gottland, and Lidice, as well as the TV series Já, Mattoni and České století. His son is the actor Vojtěch Vondráček.
