Robert Smolík

Robert Smolík is a Czech set designer, visual artist, puppeteer, and educator. He serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at DAMU in Prague, where he previously studied scenography. In his professional career, he focuses on stage design, puppet making, and film production design. He has made a significant impact in film, contributing to the puppets for the movie Kooky (Kuky se vrací), and was nominated for a Czech Lion Award in 2018 for Best Production Design for the film The Magic Quill (Čertí brko), alongside Henrich Boráros. As a set designer, he collaborates with leading venues such as the Minor Theatre, the Drak Theatre, and the Naive Theatre Liberec, as well as the Buchty a loutky ensemble and the Handa Gote theater group.
