
Міхаела Гомолова
Michaela Homolová is a Slovak director and actress who belongs among the leading figures of Czech and Slovak theatre. She was born in Bratislava and studied directing and dramaturgy at KALD DAMU in Prague, graduating in 1995 with the production Around the World in Eighty Days at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice. From 1996 she collaborated with Babadlo Theatre in Prešov, and since 1999 she has been a director at the Naive Theatre Liberec, where she has created a number of original productions. She has also worked with the South Bohemian Theatre, the Drak Theatre in Hradec Králové, the Puppet Theatre in Ostrava, and other Czech stages.
Critics describe her as “one of the most distinctive figures of contemporary puppet theatre” and praise her ability to “combine imagination with a deep understanding of the child’s world.” Audiences appreciate her poetic style, humour, and visual playfulness, thanks to which Michaela Homolová has become a director who significantly shapes the face of modern Czech puppet theatre.
