Дарек Крал

Darek Král, a native of Šumperk, is a Czech composer and producer and a graduate in film and theatre studies from Palacký University in Olomouc. Together with playwright and director David Drábek, he founded the legendary theatre studio Hořící žirafy (“Burning Giraffes”), for which he composed all the music, and to this day they form a central creative duo, not only at the Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové. In addition to his stage music, Král develops the music project Maya, with which he has released three albums under Universal Music and received a nomination for the 2003 Anděl Award. As a producer, he also supports young bands and performers. He is especially acclaimed as an incredibly versatile composer of stage music, free of stylistic stereotypes, and his music can imbue theatre productions with both energy and a distinctive atmosphere.
