Jan Bažant
Jan Bažant is a Czech scenographer, puppeteer, and costume designer who graduated from DAMU and ranks among the leading figures of contemporary theatre. He has collaborated with Divadlo Drak in Hradec Králové (The Last Trick of Georges Méliès, Time for Bed!), Naivní divadlo Liberec (Hush Hush Hoo Woo Woof!), Divadlo Minor (A Miracle in Silence), and Divadlo loutek Ostrava (The White Doe). His work is characterized by playfulness, attention to detail, and the ability to combine the tradition of puppetry with a modern theatrical language.
Critics praise his sense of space and visual metaphor, calling him “a scenographer who can give puppets a soul.” The magazine Loutkář notes that “Jan Bažant’s stage pictures have the strength of a full-fledged acting performance.”
