Carriers
Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after Mykola Kulish
"The Carrier" is a one-act dramedy based on a play by Nina Zakhozhenko, created jointly by the Kherson and Mykolaiv theatres. At the heart of the story are people who, during the occupation of Southern Ukraine, became the only hope for those in need of food, medicine, or a way to escape to freedom. Set in the village of Novosilka, the city of Kherson, and near Mykolaiv, the play explores risk, trust, and moral choices in extreme circumstances. This production resonates deeply with audiences from the affected regions, speaking in the language of lived experience. For others, it reveals what often lies beyond the headlines: the silence of occupation, fear for loved ones, and the courage of those who dared to help. Despite the gravity of its subject, the play includes moments of humour — offering a human perspective on tragedy.
